Our Commitment To Sustainability

From the fabrics to the manufacturing, we are closing the loop in an environmentally friendly garment life cycle. From now on, our reputation for timeless luxury will go hand in hand with a deliberate social and ecological responsibility. That’s why we source the finest materials and factories for our timeless products. At Carlisle etcetera, sustainability means that you can wear our pieces for years, even decades, to come.

SUSTAINABLE FABRICS

RECYCLED POLYESTER
Polyester represents 49% of all apparel production.
Our "green" polyester is fabricated from clear plastic water bottles that are selected, purified, chipped, heated and spun into fresh yarns. We then crimp the yarn, giving it a lofty engineered softness and fluffy texture. The use of recycled polyester takes far less energy and reduces dependence on petroleum as the raw material for fabrics. This reused material can be recycled endlessly, and at a quality as high as the original material, making recycled polyester a fully sustainable, closed-loop system.
LYOCELL
Softer than silk and cooler than linen
Lyocell is harvested from eucalyptus tree pulp, produced by sustainable farms in a process that uses 95% less water than the production of viscose and rayon. This green, closed-loop process recovers or decomposes all solvents and emissions. It does not require bleaching and absorbs dyes better for a richer finish. The more intense color is also achieved with a lower environmental impact. Lyocell controls and absorbs moisture up to 50% better than cotton. This super fiber resists wrinkles and is more durable than cotton. The natural anti-microbial properties of the fiber keep the fabric fresh without adding chemicals.
We invest in green building infrastructure to minimize our waste, water, and energy footprints. Our innovative factory in Vietnam has been rated Platinum for its sustainability in terms of energy use, water use and recycling since it opened in 2016.
The DBW (The Deutsche Bekleidungswerke) factory is also rated high for the ethical treatment of employees, offering them a perfect work/life balance, immaculate working conditions in a building constructed from non-polluting materials. It is furnished with ergonomic chairs and even has a roof garden with organically produced fruits and vegetables employees enjoy in the rooftop canteen. By providing on-the-job growth opportunities, we also invest in the people who make this evolution possible.
The interior is LED lit and uses harvested rainwater. We use 40% less water for fixtures and 60% less for laundry use. Technologically advanced machinery from Germany, Italy and Japan gives both precision performance as well as the highest energy savings in the fashion industry. Our innovative dying and fabric finishing techniques have reduced the use of toxic chemicals, leaving the environment pristine.
